They collect and analyse data to develop creative and practical solutions, working collaboratively to bring their solutions to life. Throughout the course, students refine skills in research, communication, critical and creative thinking, oral presentation, and teamwork. The course fosters an entrepreneurial mindset, encouraging students to approach current and future challenges with confidence, innovation, and a problem-solving attitude. This subject is ideal for students interested in business, teamwork, and making a positive impact in their community. ASSESSMENT: Students demonstrate their learning through an innovation and development journal and a group business pitch. In Geography, they study diverse biomes and their role in food production and security, with a focus on the Great Southern Reef and sustainable food security through kelp farming. In Economics and Business, students examine Australia’s financial sector and marketing strategies, applying this knowledge in a design thinking project focused on aquaculture or ecotourism. In History, students investigate the shaping of modern Australia from colonisation to Federation, and the causes and impact of the First World War. In Civics and Citizenship, students explore government structures, conscription, national identity, and ANZAC legacy. ASSESSMENT: Students demonstrate their learning through a variety of assessment types, using a diverse range of research, analysis, and presentation skills. ITALIAN A + B LEARNING SUMMARY: Students strengthen their skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening in Italian by interacting with others and engaging with a variety of texts and experiences. They use Italian to express opinions, share ideas, and participate in creative tasks. Students expand their grammar knowledge, including reflexive and irregular verbs, possessive and demonstrative pronouns, and a wider range of adjectives and adverbs. They begin using tenses such as the present perfect, imperfect, future, past, and conditional. Students explore how language and culture are connected and influenced by technology and globalisation. Cultural topics include home life, family and migration, fashion, daily routine, and travel. Students may only enrol in Year 9 Italian after completing Italian in Years 7 and 8.
