They prepare a variety of recipes with a focus on healthy eating and learn a range of cookery methods, including how to use a Thermomix. Students explore ethical and sustainable clothing production and refine their use of sewing machines and overlockers. They follow the design process to create a personalised hoodie, with the option to use a Cricut machine to add custom designs. The course encourages creativity, practical skill development, and awareness of sustainability in food and fashion. Students are required to bring a basic sewing kit and purchase fabric of their choice for their hoodie project. ASSESSMENT: Students demonstrate their learning through practical activities and investigations. HEALTH & PHYSICAL EDUCATION LEARNING AREA: Health & Physical Education LENGTH: Full Year SELECTION: Elective LEARNING SUMMARY: Students become confident, active, and responsible participants in both physical and social environments. They continue to strengthen their understanding of health, wellbeing, and physical performance, and participate in a wide range of physical activities across key game categories, including invasion games, striking/fielding, target games, and net/wall sports. They refine movement skills and apply strategies to improve performances. Students undertake an AFL 9s Sports Education unit, where they take on roles such as coach, umpire, and team manager to plan, manage, and compete in a structured sports competition to develop their leadership, collaboration skills. The challenge and adventure unit promotes resilience, teamwork, and problem-solving through outdoor and experiential learning. They respond to a design brief and create multiple items of jewellery and accessories using materials such as resin, polymer clay, and acrylic. Students work with a variety of tools such as moulds, stamps, laser cutters, and jeweller’s tools. They learn sewing techniques to design and make their own personalised T-shirt, using darts, interfacing, and patterns. They apply creative ideas while developing skills with sewing machines, overlockers, and digital technologies. Students are required to bring a basic sewing kit and purchase fabric of their choice for their T-shirt project.
