They learn about the foundations of the Catholic faith, particularly through the lens of Gleeson College and the life of Archbishop James Gleeson, and world religions. The course promotes inclusion and connection, shaped by the Gleeson 10, as students explore Catholic liturgical celebrations, belonging to community, Made in the Image of God (MITIOG) and engage in the Year 7 Reflection Day. Students holistically develop their skills and dispositions across a range of pastoral care and personal development topics, including House identity, the Resilience Project and the Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum. They explore future career pathways and reflect on their development of the Key Capabilities as part of the ‘SPARC’ program. ASSESSMENT: Students demonstrate their learning through authentic, practical assessment, multimodal tasks and reflective writing. In the woodwork unit, they learn safe woodworking practices to create wooden products in the workshop, and build skills in Computer Aided Design (CAD) to virtually design their projects. In the kitchen, students cook a variety of recipes with a focus on kitchen safety and food sustainability in Australia. In textiles, they learn to use a sewing machine and follow the design process to create a personalised apron. Students must bring a basic sewing kit and purchase fabric for their apron.
